1. Game time is roughly the same as actual time. If you need to back-date a journal entry or scene, just make that clear using headers. You can also post stuff that happened before the game started, say months or years ago, as long as you clearly label the thread or log as such.
2. Imagine the game as if it were a web forum or a livejournal (but kinda magic). Any post or reply with "Private" in the cut-tag or subject line is something your characters cannot read or respond to. The same goes with cut-tags or subject lines in posts or replies marked with another character's name. Public posts or replies are readable by everyone.
--If text is struck through -
like this - it means the text was deleted and it is not visible.
--If a post (or reply) or part of a post is labeled for a certain group and you’re not certain whether you belong to that group, just ask!
--If a group labeled is a reincarnate group, e.g. Narnians, it refers to only aware members of that group.
--If you make a post with a lot of cut tags, it helps to put who each message is addressed to under the cut tag as well, so people don’t have to click back and forth or worry about responding to the wrong thing. Italics is pretty common for this, but ~follow your heart~.
3. If you have an rp log (i.e. a completed scene written elsewhere), please mark clearly where it takes place, who it is between, and if there are any warnings or triggers, including a rating warning if necessary. Please also put the actual text of the log behind a cut tag.
4. You may start an rp thread with anyone at any time; however, it is polite to ask someone if they'd like to thread before starting a thread with their name in the subject line. You may also post "Open" threads. In this case, it is first come, first served. If you want to join another thread already in progress, you must ask permission--don't just jump in.
5. There will sometimes be "Open to All" threads. This means that it is a free-for-all. Think of it like a party, with multiple things happening at once.
6. Threads (scenes written with other characters on the site), logs (completed scenes written elsewhere), and communications (texts, phone calls, emails, social media posts, whatever) are all posted in the return_to_nola community. Journal entries, whether private or addressed to one or more people/groups, go in your journal.
7. All OOC communications should be kept out of the return_to_nola community unless absolutely necessary, i.e. don't leave OOC messages all over your IC posts. You can post in return_ooc or join the Discord server (
https://discord.gg/aQhMG9) to communicate out of character.
